Our Mission
Our mission is to promote and encourage local cold-water diving.
We focus on local freshwater scuba diving in Minnesota and Wisconsin
ensuring that every dive is a unique adventure,
whether it's a pit mine, quarry or shipwrecks in the Great lakes.
We enjoy mentoring new divers and
helping all divers in honing their diving skills by offering
local fun dives which are also a great place to meet
other divers and a new dive buddy.

Mark got certified in 2003 and would have trouble finding a dive buddy due his demanding work schedule. He started the Facebook group Scuba Squad in May of 2014 with the intent of it being a group where Minnesota and Wisconsin divers could find buddies to dive with and organize local dives. Mark hosted many Scuba Squad Camp and Dive
Mark got certified in 2003 and would have trouble finding a dive buddy due his demanding work schedule. He started the Facebook group Scuba Squad in May of 2014 with the intent of it being a group where Minnesota and Wisconsin divers could find buddies to dive with and organize local dives. Mark hosted many Scuba Squad Camp and Dives throughout the years, and organized dives with divers as far away as Winnepeg, Canada. As of 2025, there are 924 members who have joined. Scuba Squad changed it's name to Scuba Squad Divers in 2024. The Camp and Dives have continued and have gained a steady following. Mark's goal has been accomplished.

Mark's first dive was a Discover Scuba in Hawaii in 1997. Mark became a PADI open water diver in 2003. Due to lack of dive buddies, he took a few years off. He formed Scuba Squad in 2013 and organized weekend Camp and Dives, thus being able to dive a lot more. He earned his PADI Divemaster rating in 2013 and st

He formed Scuba Squad in 2013 and organized weekend Camp and Dives, thus being able to dive a lot more. He earned his PADI Divemaster rating in 2013 and started leading fun dives. Throughout the years, mentoring new divers has become one of his core values. His love for diving Great Lake shipwrecks made him further his training and he became a TDI Technical Diver in 2016. In 2024 he earned his SDI Divemaster rating. Mark's love for diving, his willingness in helping new divers, and his knowledge of local dive sites and shipwrecks is a great asset to all divers and is what makes Scuba Squad Divers great.

"Scuba Sally" Manthey
Sally grew up along the southern shore of Lake Superior in Wisconsin and always enjoyed being in the Lake. On a snorkeling excursion in Mexico in 2015, she tried out Discover Scuba and got hooked. She got certified in 2016 in the Homestead Crater in Utah. Her first open water dive was in June 2017 with none other than Mark Manthey at a

From there, she attended local shop fun dives and Scuba Squad Camp and Dives. Mark has been her dive buddy and mentor since 2019, and it is because of Mark's mentoring, guidance and patience that Sally is the accomplished diver she is today. With encouragement from Mark, she attained her SDI Divemaster in 2024. She enjoys encouraging others to learn, dive and become better divers.

The Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society
We support the GLSPS which is a nonprofit organization whose members are divers,
historians and those who share a common love of shipwrecks
and have a vision of preserving these underwater treasures.
